It involves removing thin layers of tissue and examining them under a microscope immediately after removal. This process is repeated until no cancerous cells are detected, minimizing the removal of healthy tissue and maximizing the preservation of cosmetic and functional outcomes.
3. Wide Local Excision
In cases where the cancerous lesion has spread deeper into the skin or is larger in size, a wide local excision may be recommended. This procedure involves removing the tumor along with a wider margin of surrounding healthy tissue to ensure complete removal.
